difference between component and basic speakers

Im alittle confused as to the difference between the two. I know that the 6.5component speakers are 3 way and the basic speakers are 2 ways. Is it really that necessary to get component speakers, or could I do without them. I havent heard the difference between the two, but maybe some of you have. Im assuming its better sound quality, but is it worth it?

Yes and no. Component have a satellite tweeter. It also features its own crossover.
3 ways have the tweeter on the actual speaker itselt. Like so:

THis is a 2 way speaker

These are component speakers

In actuallity you could just get a 3 way because our cars have the tweeter already in the dash. Or you could get the components and UPGRADE the speaker in the dash.

I'd say get components. Your highs and mids will be alot clearer with components than they will be with regular speakers.

Jumpman, you live in Washington don't you? If you want we can meet up and you can listen to my speakers before you make up your mind.

6x9s in the rear replacement sounds good usually.

i have 6.5'' coax in the rear quarter panel where the leather poof used to be.

sounds good, but im getting my interior and stereo redone, we'll see what happens next
