So.....I start up my car and begin my drive back to school...roughly an hours time. I notice the gauges and my deck aren't lit up as bright as they used to be, soo...I turn off my woofer, turn off my fogs, and lower the volume. I drive for about 30 minutes now, at the halfway point, everything in the car begins to dim more...I quickly unplug anything drawing electricity from the cigarette lighter and down off the deck...next thing you know I'm driving now with what says to be at 0 rpm and 0 mph...the gauges just died. Now the throttle feels funny like its not responding and just reving, the headlights shutoff and now I'm thinking I'm pretty damn screwed. Using whatevers left of my momentum I manage to pull off to the side between an entrance to the freeway and the freeway...what a frickin night.

Now, does anyone know what happened? Alternator? My transmission has been acting pretty shitty for the last month or two now also, jolty shifts, slamming into gear, all of that...anyone else experience this?

 

when my alternator blew all the lights dimmed. the dash, climate control, cd player, and headlights.. i ended up parking and shutting off and realizing it wouldnt start.. thats as far as i got so i dont know about the 0 on the gauges and stuff bc i shut down way before that woulda happend..

how did you get home after you pulled over?

 

100 buck tow truck, my alternator blew before, i wasn't on the freeway though, but my car went crazy when that happened, wouldn't go into gear, and when it did it would slam in hard, and then eventually it just shut down, which sucks

i hope its not the alternator again, what could be causing me to go through 2 alternators in 1 years time?
