d2S or D2R bulbs?
Ok i did alittle investigating myself on the philips lighting forum. I read in the FAQ that the D2R bulbs came about when mercedes wanted to put them in their reflector housings because they didnt want to go with projectors like bmw and such. To do these they used special reflector housings and came up with these d2r bulbs to cut stray light. I read that the only time these bulbs should be used are in housings made for the d2r bulbs, like benzs, and not halogen reflector housings like ours. They said all it did was cut the light but in the wrong places when used in conventional housings. Just thought i would update everyone and answer my own question
almost all cars with HID's use the D2R bulbs, including all new acura's, lexus'... but like 1stgencl said, the projector headlight cars have the D2S bulbs without the "shaded" areas on the glass. I have D2R bulbs in my accord and I tried "making" D2S bulbs on an extra pair by removing the "shaded" area's and I didnt notice a difference.
Do you like your 8000K bulbs sumkid? I was thinking about getting 7000K bulbs but while reading about the D2R and D2S i read about there being no such thing as a bulb over 6000k unless it had some coating on it to give it color in which case it would severly cut your usable light. I figured i would go with a 6000K kit to be on the safe side made my K2.

Yeah I wouldnt go with anything over 6000k from what i've been reading. To f0de and 3pointzero, I just want to thank you guys for helping us with the HID groupbuy..it's a lot of work to get something like this together, and whether or not you are getting something back from the groupbuy or not, Good job to both of you!
