Custom Audio Setup

I am going all out (now that I work at circuit city) on my audio system. I am yanking the shitty bose and putting all Alpine in. head unit, components, and amp. Then I am gonna run 2 10" Alpine Type E's and a 600+ watt Mono Class MTX thunder amp. But here is my dilema, anyone have ideas for a custom trunk install?

Absolutly...I've had about 3 custom designs in my trunk...I don't have any recent pictures but I can give you good ideas...

Panels to hide your system but show it when you want...windows to show it off with neons...or just basic sub design fiberglassed with carpet (or paint if your willing to spend the money)...

Just give me a price your willing to spend on a custom design and I'll come up with a idea for ya...As for what to buy, your store usually has good prices on some things but others you don't have that big of a discount on...I would check to see what company gives you the biggest discount before you start looking...

Let me know, later...

the custom work depends on what you are looking for. Are you going for pure sound quality? raw power(spl)? or just for looks? that will decide what types of custom setups you should look into.

well I have gone through many subs, and I found the sound of 10's just fit my needs. Basically, I would like to put two tens and maybe a 12 in the back, and show my two amps (one for components and one for the subs) I was also thinking on sending a port from the boxes into the cabin somehow so I get more bass in the cabin. Basically My carpet in my trunk is all messed up and I dont want to rely on the stock carpet for anything. I would kinda like to stay away from fiberglass if possible, but if I was good at it make it a possibility. I am just confused so much to do! So what are ur ideas for 2 ten", 1 twelve", and two amps?!

i spent a LONG time with many pro. sub designers for custom shops and every one of them said the same think. Point a sub towards the armrest port is no good. The way subs sound best in when they resonate in an enclosed area. So keep your subs facing back towards your rear end. Also, mixing 10's and 12's is never a good idea....theyre two different sound completely....and when they mix, you dont get a happy equalibrium...for instance, lets say 10's play a dec. range of .1 to .8 and 12's play .5 to . 13.....well that range that overlaps will sound ok, but then the two extremes will be competing for your ear....thatll sound shitty .....so stick with one size. If youre looking for a simple setup...i'd do MDF. Its cheap and is easy to work with....i'd wrap it in any material you prefer. check out my subs and two amps...i did it myself about a year ago.....

damn good one rice...shit I almost took offense to it...You might put "j/p" but for some reason why is that hard to believe?? But from everyone on the board, thanks for the two cents...

MDF and one size subs is the best way to go...I have 4 10's in my trunk with two amps because of SPL but I still have great SQ as well...

Your doing the job yourself in the trunk?? hmm, well with fiberglass and having it carpeted you dont have to worry about sanding it down perfectly as you would if you had to paint it...And if you get it done by someone else, its extremly unexpensive then painting it...and another good thing about doing it with fiberglass and then putting carpet over it, you can stay away from the square designs such as with wood that limits your imagination and creates a boring and basic look instead of a unique custom design...

Dont put basslink in our car, in my brothers integra it sounds AWESOME! but its open air.

As for making the custom fiberglass box, I wouldnt carpet it I said id paint it, I also said I want to remove all of the STOCK carpeting and make the entire enclosure custom. Anyways, how would I make the custom box so that:
a.) I can screw the subs in
b) run the speaker wire to the sub
c) mount it

I was thinking about making an amp rack back where the wheel wells come up so I can Still adjust my teins and maybe add a strut bar, and then putting the tens in the corners

If you paint the fiberglass you have to make the damn thing smooth as shit and it will cost you out the ass...If you carpet it, you can make mistakes in the fiberglass and not have to worry about taking an extra two-three days to fix it...It's cheaper, less of a hassle, and looks awesome...

I've seen some cars where the back is completly painted fiberglass and it looks like a fucking plastic playground for kids...
