well i took my car to this shop to get my shocks springs and wheels on, plus some tint..
i told them to make sure they dont cut out the third brake light, and they said okay.
i just got a call 5 minutes ago with them telling me they cant do it.
they've been such a shitty business, i will never go back to them.
in short, they fucked up my suspension installation and told me my car was not drivable and to fix it was an extra 400 dollars.
i told them to fuck off and called around to see what could be done about this.
but basically, they had me by the balls..
i got the price down to 300, but that's still shitty..
i didn't even want to be on the phone with these people anymore, when they called me about the brakelight i just said "fine, whatever, just have my car done before 1"
i don't feel like dealing with them any longer than i have to, and they'd probably fuck something else up and make me pay for it anyway.

so basically, im getting my car back without the third brakelight done.
would it be very difficult to do this myself?
the only tint experience i have is my taillights, and i assume they are different than window tint.
they're using "high performance" 20% on the back.. is that something i can pick up at autozone or a similar place?

suggestions?

i don't know why they dont just remove the light and do it, but i don't even care anymore. i just want my car back now.
they've had it for 3 days, and i was supposed to get it back the same day i dropped it off.
plus, my cost has doubled.
fuck this place.
i just want to know if i would be able to do a decent job filling in that space myself.

 

the 300 was to remove and put back the spindles on both sides in the rear..
i dont know all that much about cars, but i know a guy who does and he talked to them with me.. with what he told me and my knowledge on the subject, all i can really say is that they ran into a small problem that a larger shop could have dealt with easily, but they dealt with it poorly, which resulted in a bigger job than would have been needed..

i'm pissed, but i don't even want to think about any of it anymore.. i'm just trying to find a ride to the shop to pick her up now.

any help on the tint subject?

im assuming you have a 1st generation cl if you do there is no need for them to remove your spindle all they have to do is drop the struts call better business on them.

 

If they screwed up your car to render it "undriveable", they should be makeing it driveable. No way in hell would I be paying extra because they screwed it up. If they dont cooperate, i would talk to a lawyer.

 

They can't patch the tint, you'll have to have them do it over.

Why didn't you just take the 3rd brake light out b4 you took it there? I took mine out b4 my tint, cuz I have the wing and my brake light doesn't even work. Took me 5 mins, only cuz I had to crawl in next to my speaker box, and took a few mins to find the right socket. Which is a 5/16" socket for the 2 bolts. You should have just taken it out. We did a group deal at the shop, and I had all my friends taking their 3rd bl's out in the parking lot with sockets, cuz they saw mine was out. You should have just taken it out yourself

 

yeah, i guess i shouldve removed the brake light..
but i figured they are a shop that does this all the time, so they must be used to dealing with the brake light..
guess i shouldnt have assumed.
so if i go there and take the brake light off myself, they wont be able to fill it in for me while im there?

i need my car back to go to work soon, so i cant really be in there dealing with this whole suspension situation.
could i address this issue at a later date?
i don't think i should have to pay for this spindle crap, because they never told me that would be needed.
they told me they would have to replace something because the bushings were seized, and they couldnt get it out by normal means.
they said they could stop there and i'd have the whole front done and they could put the wheels on the back, but they wouldnt be able to do the suspension.
i gave them the go ahead on just finishing the job, because i figured all they'd have to do is replace some bushings.

but then they call me back and say that to get to this thing, they have to remove the spindle, and then they have to put it back on when they're done..
they quoted me at $400 for that
at that point, i said i dont have $400, so ill just come pick up my car.
he said the car cannot be driven because they already started, and it stripped something so they couldnt put it back how it was.

so my car was stuck there pretty much.

i had a family friend mechanic call the guy and talk to him, and he told me that he doesnt think they are fucking with me, just that being a small shop, they didnt have the best tools to use. that's why it got so fucked up.

i dont know if i can do anything about it since i technically told them to do what was needed.. but i never heard shit about a spindle or $400 dollars before they already got to the point of no return.

 

If you remove the brakelight, they will have to lay a new sheet of tint that's not cut.

As far as the suspension, sounds like they're trying to stroke you. Tell them that you talked to your lawyer and he said you shouldn't pay because you never agreed to the extra fee. If they screwed it up worse, that's THEIR fault not yours

 

I would get my car back and then take them to small claims court to recoup my $400 dollars. Just because they are ignorant and don't know what they are doing doesn't mean you need to pay double out of your pocket.

 

they are talkin bout the rear mount bolt on the bottom.. they are only 15$ for each new. but im sure they raped you on the labor. usually you have to press them out or torch them because they are siezed in due to rust. if they break theyre gone. i dont agree with the 300$ price tag. but theres no real way to know those bolts are siezed and once theyre broke your toast. maybee 150$ would have been decent of them.

 

well i went to pick it up right after my last post.
they said it would be done by one, and i was standing around waiting for my car until like 430, which made me late for work
when i got there, they all started telling me how much of a bitch my car was to deal with and "i hope i never see that fucking car again"
no price they gave me at any point during the three days was the price i ended with.. some went up, some went down.. it seemed very unprofessional
one guy asked me what i wanted them to do with the oem wheels, and i said to stick them in the car.

i said to him "could you put the stock shocks and springs in there too?"

and he said "uhh.. did you tell anybody that?"

i said "not beforehand.. but they're mine.. dont you still have them??"

he said "wellllllllll, i dont knowww"

and i said "welllll, can you find out? i'd like my parts back.. what, did you just
throw them out or something?" (knowing damn well they still had them)

he said "noooo, sometimes people come pick parts up"

"well, can you find out, because id really like them back"

so he picks up the phone and says "hey put those stock parts in there too"

like he didnt know they were around.



so they finally bring my car out, i see the dudes from the actual garage come out and they are all smirking and obviously talking about my car..
my tint looks like shit around all the edges on the side windows and the dot matrix on the rear. they didnt even tint it all the way to the top on the driver side door. also, there is a hair stuck between the tint and window.

inside my car:
on my armrest, there are places where it's obviously been fucked up, but not torn.. it looks like someone took something sharp and pressed against it, but it just barely didnt poke through.
in a bunch of random spots on my leather (back seat, doors, front seats, etc), there is black shit..
on the back of my seat, it looks like something spilled all down the whole thing. it is dark and sticky looking.
on the back of the armrest, the plastic part, there are a ton of scratches.. basically, the plastic is now grey with plenty of white patches.

my speakers in the back are soaking wet to the touch.
all my cd's are arranged differently than when i brought it there, with one of the cd's broken in half!!


but the tint over the rear brake light wasnt cut out
was there lining on the underside of the back deck to begin with?
i dont think ive ever looked at it, but there's nothing there now at least.
but they obviously figured out how to get it out and did it right.


well.. the wheels look nice on the car..
the back is sitting a little lower than the front, but i also have a bunch of crap in the trunk.. maybe it will even out when i get it all out of there.

i've noticed some knocking on the right side in the rear when i go over large bumps (though im trying to avoid them) and that was the area that was causing all the trouble when they had it.

i need to get the tint redone some time. i sure as hell am never bringing my car back there for anything.

they seem like they are complete asses and you seem like you took the wrong approach by agreeing to pay the extra. i dont know about your finances but you could even sue them for lost wages due to not having a car, have them pay you compensation for not having a car, take the car to a top auto mechanic and charge them their rate. either ways. hope things work out. good luck

man that's fawked up. I just got my tint done, and there was no black shit or scuffs on my interior. They sound like a bunch of ghetto bitches. Take pics of all the damage and send em to the BBB and try to do something about it, that's about all you could do. I wish you could have taken some friends with you and told them to fuck themselves, it sucks you were going to work and late, I know how that is. But hopefully the shocks and springs will settle and be fine, sounds like you definately need new tint though. Sorry to hear man

These guys used to do good work 4-5 years ago. They are a small shop and limited because of that, but back in the day they were cool. I think they changed owners about two years ago and the guy was a real prick the last time I was there. The staff was rude and I told myself I wouldn't go back. Now I have more reason to stay away.

 

yeah, ive been in there before and ive never been asked if i needed help..
everyone there is totally rude and nobody seems like they care about the customers..
they actually seem like they dislike the customers..
even when im in there and other people come in, i cant believe how poorly they treat people and how they run the place.

when i was talking to this one guy who had been working on my car there, it was obvious to me he was totally tweaked..
he was acting very odd and speedy, and ive been around enough druggies to know he was on something.

when i told my brother i went to HP, he said "oh i know a guy there. i dont know his name, but my friend sells him a bag of coke every day"
i asked him what he looked like because i didnt know the guys name, and he described him to a tee..
great to know some dude was working on my car all coked up..

im going to send them an email, because they are just assholes on the phone and i dont need anyone being an ass to me..
id rather just tell them everything i want to say and make them formally respond to me without any attitude or interruption.


im not exactly sure what to say to them.
i dont feel like dealing with the whole 300 dollar thing.. im over that.
i just want my tint redone because it looks like crap.


for a quick list of things im unhappy about:
-cd broken in half
-dirty and roughed up interior
-poor tint job (biggest problem)
-broken plastic on engine cover (the piece that says A 3.0 VTEC is completely split.. it pops off right in half)

the website says "satisfaction guaranteed", but something tells me they dont mean that.
