In cold weather fuel is more difficult to vaporize and ignite. This lead to longer starting until enough fuel is vaporized by engine compression/expansion and mixture will "light off". Cold weather fuel should help, but still may take longer. Don't see that much of a problem in Houston

good luck

I know I'm in Cali, but what the heck. Usually nights get around 30-50 degrees, and it definitely takes longer for me to start my cl in the morning (usually a second more) than in the afternoon when it has warmed up outside.

This is an excellent question. Where I am it gets below 0' for several weeks in a row. Does the CL need any sort of fuel additive to get it thru the winter?

Tomorrow the CL will be mine.

that was something i always loved about the cl; freezing/hot/whatever, it always jumped right up like an electric frog. just make sure you keep gas in it, low needle gives you the slow starts.

Another reason for slower starts in cold weather is likely the time it takes for fuel pump to bring fuel pressure up to operating range. Pressure-up time will increase as temperature decreases due to increased fuel viscosity. You can reduce cranking time by turning the keyswitch to On, and waiting 3 secs before engaging starter. This gives fuel pump time to bring fuel pressure up w/o wasting battery energy on ineffective engine turnover.

good luck
