I just installed an eBay CAI in my 3.0 and I have some questions. There is a flange near the major downward bend that looks like it should be bolted down but it isn't anywhere near a bolt, whats up with that? My filter is basically standing on its own weight without any support beyond what it gets from its rubber seals and I'm not confident that stress is good on them. How do I secure the intake tubing?

PS: The thing is totally badass, I love the throaty sound it puts out when the VTEC kicks in, and it's almost not noticeable at lower RPMs

 

also it came with a stainless steel filter, are those things street legal?

back on topic: I've never delt with installing a 3.0 intake. My temp solution was a zip tie when I lost the bolt that was supposed to hold it up.

on-topic: my ebay intake for my 2.2cl was kinda the same, i had this mounting bracket that i had no idea where it went, so i mounted it to one of the old bolts from the stock intake, and put it under the intake to hold the intake up, than i bought another hose clamp and tied together the intake to the mounting bracket

I'm having a hard time imagining this. I too have a big rubber stopper like thing that looks like it was supposed to go in a now defunct bolt hole and attach to my intake but I'm out of reach of any bolt holes, did you drill a new one?

Mine lined up with the smaller hill, so I just broke out the drill and widened the hole a little bit. And the rubber stopper screwed right in
