Edit: Guess I'll actually say something relevant.
I LOVE my V2. My car sounds like a complete beast when I accelerate and when I hit the VTEC. Sounds like I'm running a turbocharged V8, at least that's what I like to imagine in my 16 second car.

Ive had 3 ebay intakes on 3 different cars, not one problem....Your just trying to justify yourself for wasting 250 bucks on something that you could have paid 30 for...

The only intake that MIGHT melt is a plastic intake, but even that's a stretch. I find it hard to believe you could melt an aluminum tube without setting your car on fire

my friend did. Its sound ackward but i see it with my own eyes because i was stuck with him for 5 hrs that day for him to get towed. that shit was all bubbly and i was like
.
i dont think that was totally the intakes fault. there had to have been others factors leading to your freinds intakes demise. my V2 is fine and i havent heard any problems from other AEM intake owners.
the pvc pipe intakes are known to melt.. infact they are horrable on your cat, cause the fumes they produce the car cant burn it, so it passes it thru the valves (fawkin them up) then into the catlytic converter which tries to burn it but it only becomes harder and cloggs it up.
