Code P0171 System too lean?
Hi guys I did a quick search on this and it sounds like one of the possible culprits is the primary o2 sensor. Where is this located on my 2.3 CL?
What are the other (most likely) causes? Should I be replacing the o2 sensor first?
Gas mileage seems ok...
Thoughts?

Easiest way is to pull the code from an OBD II reader, most auto parts stores should do this for you for free, I know autozone does. If not, you can use a paper clip to get the code to flash, there's a green 2 pin connecter under the glove box that you use to get the code to flash and then look up the code here.

Here's another description on how to do it

Here's some more info about the o2 sensors also

Assuming O2 sensor is at fault, it's #28 in the pic below.
It's a sensor that should be at the end of the catalytic converter. Kinda like the following:
You'll need a o2 sensor socket to replace it.
It's a simple unplug connector, unscrew sensor, apply anti-seize to new sensor threads, then screw in sensor, plug in connector. Reset CEL and complete 3 drive cycles.

Thanks.
I've already pulled the code (P0171). Cleared it once and it shows up again about 3 weeks later.
Question is, instead of replacing both o2 sensors, can I assume it's the one near the CAT?

According to http://repairpal.com/OBD-II-Code-P0171-and-P0174
P0171 is bank 1. Would this be the sensor near the CAT?

check the vacuum leak first as it is a much cheaper and easier fix...
check for plugged Fuel Filter or weak Fuel Pump or Plugged or dirty Fuel Injectors
