Coating Coming Off Muffler

Okay, I've got another question for you all. I've noticed that the grey paint/coating on the muffler (behind the chrome exhaust tips) is flaking and coming off. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this something the service will fix under warranty? I know it's not a performance issue, but it's starting to look pretty skanky under there...

Oh, and by the way, where are MY stars, Maui?

I think this was brought up in another topic before, but I couldn't find it...

Anyway, I don't think that the dealer would fix it, but it also shouldn't be too difficult for you to re-paint it with a high-temp paint.

Most exhausts from the factory come with an aluminized finish. It's not durable, especially if you drive in snowy winters. IF the coating is not covered by your warantee, simply go to an autoparts store and purchase a high-temp paint from either VHT or Plasti-Kote. They come in a variety of colors. To assure good adhesion, you might want to clean the area you want to paint with a metal bristled brush to remove dirt, grime and surface rust. Also, it could be a good idea to spray it with a primer that also availible from VHT and Plasti-Kote. Finally, remember to wear a facemask when using spray paints.

Yea, The paint has been coming off of mine for a while. At some point I will venture to Home Depot, get some high-temp paint and crawl under the back of the car.

Guys, maybe I'm looking the wrong part but it seems like everyone else is having this issue and I don't think I see it on my car.

It's possible that it's not happening to yours yet, considering that you only have 23k miles.

Anyway, looking at the back of the car, just behind the Chrome exhaust tips, the oval piece is the muffler. We are actually talking about that oval piece, not the under coating of the muffler. This oval piece is painted black from Acura and peels off eventually.

Well, I looked. And, here's the deal. I didn't see anything that's black on that oval part. So, I guess a.) I didn't have any on there, b.) it all came off already, or c.) I'm still a lame ass and don't know what's up. I just might go and take some pics so y'all can set the record straight
