CLs and transmissions
CLs and transmissions
I'm an avid reader of the 2nd gen forum, and I noticed that a lot of them are having tranny problems... How's the reliability on the 1st generation transmissions? I haven't seen anyone complain about them, except to say that they are a bit weak if you heavily modify your car.

The gear manufacturer also produces gears for Mitsubishi... Yes our gears from Acura are the same as Mitsubishi... when Mitsubishi sales went down the production of gears were massive and the preserved them with a gelaton coating to satop erotion on the metal... when Acura sales boomed, they used up those gears but did not know of the coating... The batches of Acuras that received those gears are having serious tranny problems, which are warrantied... Late 99' 1st gens may run into this problem however it seems to be a 2000 and up Acura problem, often foiund in the Type-Ss due to their performance ability... No real threat to us 1st gens!
and yes this is 100% accurate and true! I hgave good sources through out Acura!
