climate control LED swap

I know this has been talked about before and ive read almost every thread there is on this subject, but i still have a few questions because some of the threads contradict themselves.
I have a 97 3.0, and its my understanding that the instrument cluster requires a simple switch of #4 168/194 LEDs and #1 74 LED, also for the dimmer, cruise, and moonroof take a #74 LED but they have to be soldered with a resistor.

Now in terms of the lights on the climate control; climate control buttons need #74 LEDs soldered with a resistor, but can the climate display be done with the dasani water bottle like i did my clock. If not i will just have to solder and throw on a resistor.

just wanted to clear that up before i rip apart my whole dash. also any tips of taking off my woodgrain without snappin it.

thanx boiis

yea you can use a film to change the climate control to blue. but if your goin for other colors it prolly won't work. for the film i used some stuff that they use for stage lighting i forgot what it was called. but it works pretty well.

Light gels work well. I have some blue sitting around that I intend to start using up.

Light gels are just film that are used on theatre lighting - they're thicker (because of the heat) and are available in a wide array of colors. It's not really necessary for this job, but they work well. I got them from scrap on the stage that I work on.

I don't think you'll be able to cut an all blue part out of the bottle that would be big enough for the climate control.

I think the climate control is probably flat LED's the same that is used in the steering wheel key hole, which by the way, is a bitch to do, but worth it.

I haven't found the time to pick up where i left off, but maybe someday.
