checking codes for the check engine light
checking codes for the check engine light
I have read about the paperclip method but don't exactly know were to do this and how. Could someone point me in the right direction? I have a 99 2.3cl.
the connector is right under the dash on the far right hand side.
Take out your glove box (three screws and one clip) and you will have no problem seeing it. The connector is blue with two wires.

can someone go into a bit more detail on this? my check engine light came on last night while i was on my way home...it used to be on when i first got the car, but no one knew why it was on, but then eventually it just turned off...until last night. so what exactly does the paperclip method do? and can i do it on my 97 3.0?
hey man i can walk you through it step by step if you want i have detailed instruction but you need to hit me up on aol im at jgiguere17
note: you do not need to take out the glove box, if you ly down look under your dash you can see the harness and you just unhook it and then "jumper the two wires with a paperclip and there ya go. but hit me up if you need more help

jumper the connector, turn the key to on(don't start it)and watch the Check engine light. It will blink long codes for tens and short codes for ones. (i.e. 1 long blink followed by 5 short blinks = 15)
