CHECK ENGINE LIGHT help

sup guys.. well yesterday before I put my CL to the car show.. I cleaned it and cleaned the engine bay.. but forgot to cover the distributor and intake.. when I left they weren't dry enough and when it reached around 3 or 4 RPM it seems that my engine was having a hard time and hearing sounds from it.. water!!!.. anyways... now it is back to its perfect condition because the water has dried out but my CHECK ENGINE LIGHT is on and won't turn off.. is there something I need to do to get this light off? Is it true that Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts have a Check Engine LIght tester? Is it free or there's a charge for it? your help will be appreciated..

Try to reset the chip by removing the negative battery terminal. Replace it after a few minutes. Hopefully, this will get rid of this problem.

I hope this helps.

there a light green plug underneath the glove box. then you take a wire and plug it in to the two holes in the connector, looping the wire in a U. turn the car on to standby. the check engine light will start blinking. a long blink = 10 a short blink=1. the code will repeat until the wire is taken out. if there is more than one code, it will follow the first code. once the pattern repeats it's self then you'll know what to check on the check engine chart. good luck
