Check engine light on

Does anyone know the proper way of resetting the maintenence light on a 1997 Acura CL? I think you stick a key in the slot in the dashboard, but I'm not sure what else you need to do. Does it have to the the car's ignition key for it to work? Do you need to turn it? Do you have to press in and turn the engine on? Please help. The light is driving me crazy.
