Do you know how to check what code it's throwing? Just get a paper clip and find a baby blue plug/sensor/whatever with 2 slots/pinouts/whatever under the glove box on the passenger's side. Put the paper clip (bent into a U shape) in both slots and turn the key to the ON position (don't start the engine). The CEL will blink. A long blink means the number is in the tens position and a short blink in the ones position. For example, 4 long blinks 3 short blinks is Code 43, whatever that is. If you already knew this, then never mind haha.

To answer your question though, yes, the CEL will come on if the spark plugs are put on the wrong way because the spark will be upside down. Maybe they're not in tight enough or the spark plug wires aren't pushed all the way down.
