Changin rotors

Hey guys,

I'm about to change out my rotors. I did a search but found nothing on how to change them out. Could someone plz give me some details on how to do it (both front and back)? I know that my 99 is easier to do then the 97s.

Thanks in advance

Also, does anybody know how to remove the front bumper?

I got brembo x/drilled & slotted rotors. The company I got it from does the x/drill and slotting themselves since brembo doesn't offer it.

note to get the rotors off the front you need to get them pressed off, if you kow a machine shop that will do it then you can, but i had to take mine in cause the fuckers wont come off, the mechanic says thats cause they need to be pressed on by a machinst or something liek that, this goes as well with the back ones i think. but this is what i had to do, i got the slotted rotors from a guy in la that take raybestos rotors and slots them, its cool he charges 70 bucks each but they are pretty good, he has been doing this for over 20 years. and then i went with akebono pads, they are the stock pads from acura that they put on the cl. if you buy aftermarket pads you are more likely to have skweeks than if you used stock brake pads

Keep in mind that he has the '98-'99 rotor design. Unlike our '97 pain-in-the ass design, the rotors should come off easily. Just undo the lug nuts, pull the wheel, remove the caliper (or only take apart one-half to get the pads out). There should be 2 screws holding the rotor to the hub. If you break the 2 screws, don't worry. The only reason they are there is to hold the rotors in place on the assembly line. Once you put the wheel back on and tighten up the lug nuts, the rotors will stay in place!

Thanks rick, you always have the answers. LoL. I'm going to do it tomorrow. My bro is suppose to do it for me, but he doesn't have time, so he's gonna tell me how and i'm gonna do it myself. Is the back the same way too??

I'm thinking of doing my rotors also, is it a good idea to do new brake pads when putting on new rotors?

JamzCL: Yes it would be a good idea to change out the pads too whle doing the rotors.

CLUofI: Good question, I never asked the guy about it when I bought it. All i know is that he has his own machine, that slots and xdrills them. And have good replys on groupbuycenter.

Tell him to get a hold of a hub puller made for the '90-'97 Accord front rotors. If he doesn't use one, then yes, then he'll need to split the knuckle to remove the rotor! :thumbsdn:

99CL: You're welcome. Good luck!

You may want to invest in an manual impact screwdriver or do it the old fashioned way, a big philips head and a hammer. Those retaining screws won't come out easily. I'm pretty sure you gonna need to take the calipers and the outter caliper brakets off too. I've never messed with the outter brackets before though.

I just ordered the cross drilled/slotted rotors and pads for $285.

Another weekend project in the next few weeks for me and Rick to do.

Hey guys. I put my rotors in yesterday. THey were very easy to change out.

But i'm having a problem. My rear passenger side rotors are making a rubbing noise. I looked it over and over, and there's nothign rubbing at all. DOes any body know what it could be?? And if i slam on the brakes, after a while it will make this werid noise everytime i push on the breaks....

Thanks in advance...

What honda model do you get the rotors for if you have a 98 3.0? 98-00 Accord V6?

It wasn't from an accord for the 98-99 CL 3.0 rotors. I'm not sure what years but I was told it was from a prelude. Only thing is, the two screws on the rotors don't line up, but that's no problem at all because those two screws are only used to hold the rotors in place while on the assembly line..

Did you get the Brembos that were on ebay for awhile that said they were for a "98/"99 CL and they said they also fit a "92-? Prelude?

If so, that was the place I was thinking of getting mine from if I decided to do it.

I'm not sure, but got them from the groupbuycenter. They have groupbuys on them a few times.
