Cd -player Error

Maybe one of you can help out.

my (ehem) stock CD player keeps giving me and error when i insert CD's. whether it be CDRs or Store bought Music CD's.
It reads PEO. The manual says that this error indicates the CD needs to be cleaned. Purchased a CD lens cleaner, it didnt help. The only time my CD player words is early in the morning when it is cold. Could it be heat?

That's a recall issue. Well, maybe not a recall, but when I brought my car into the dealer for it, they replaced the radio because of it.
