Catalytic Converter Failure . . .

It should throw code 67 - Catalyst System Efficiency System below threshold, defective catalytic converter
You also might notice an odor to the exhaust. If there is a hole in it, it would be louder depending on the size of the hole.

I'd take it off and check it out. If you're getting smell and rattle, id say it probably is the cat. I dunno how hot nitrous gets but that could be it, im sure factory spec wasnt counting on a 75 shot.

is your check engine light on???

my check engine light came on and i went to autozone and they checked it and said it was my cat converter , but that since i do all short distance stop and go driving i probably have a lot of residue built up and that i just need to take my car on a long drive to burn the residue out. i still havent had a chance to do that ..... should i just take it off and clean the inside of it..?
ur cat may be falling apart but as long as your engine light is not on then your cat is still doing its job.
if it is rattling, the screen inside may be falling apart. if that is the case its gonna clog and you better get a new cat or say goodbye to your valves.
if your cat is completely f*cked, the O2 sensor will burn out within 3-4 days and your gas mileage goes to shit, but your car opens up more, i sacrificed the gas mileage for speed and sound about 14 months ago. thinking about putting a cat back on tho cuz i hate my car now.

I need to get my car up on a lift and see where the noise is coming from. Next step would be to tear the exhaust apart to find the rattling/excessive resonance.
It's really embarrasing to be "rattling" down the road! :thumbsdn:

Figured out what the smell was, I had a bad battery. One of the cells in the battery was bad, causing it to overcharge and boil over, it was the fumes from the battery entering into the car.
"
I had a 1987 ford bronco II when i was younger,
I managed to strech the timing belt one day, so the engine was dunping unburnt fuel in to the exhaust,
it was igniting in the cat,
melted my carpet and floor man on the passanger side,
melted the ceramic stuff inside the cat,
set it on fire and launched it out the tail pipe like a cannon
in to the bushes where it set fire to the pine straw
then to the fence !!!
That is how you know your cat is screwed =)
