Exclamation car just shuts off

First of all my check engine light is on and i dont know what the problem is. Sometimes when i drive my car my car just shuts off. When i try to turn the the car back on, i have to hold the key down in the ignition switch for a little bit. It seems like when i barley the touch the key in the ignition it turns off. Can it it be that I need a new ignition or is there something wrong in the engine such as a clogged fuel filter, or do i need a new fuel pump? what can it be? Can anyone please help me?

How many miles are on you CL? The ignition tumbler and interlock are on recall and need to be replaced. Hence the car shutting off. But the check engine light won't come on for that fault. The most common Check Engine pop is from the EGR recall. If you're under 80,000 mile that's covered under warranty also. Please register you car at OWNERLINK. You'll find it on Acura's website. Once you've registered you CL with Acura it will show you what recalls are on your ride. And if they've been fixed or not.

Have your rear brake calipers checked as well. Acura knows this problem to strike before that EGR code gets ya. Any probs with your tranny?

Hopefull y thats the only problem, since my car has almost about 150,000 miles all ready. But i 'll have them check out why my check engine light is on , but i dont want to be spending a lot if there is a problem. Is there any way i can check what the code might be?

Check your code.

There is a self-diagnostic plug behind your glovebox. It's taped to the round metal brace. It's blue and has two wires. Jump the two wires together with the ignition off. Then turn the ignition to RUN without starting it. Your check engine light will flash the code. I think it flashes long flashes first and short next. Add up the long flashes for your first digit and short for your second digit. This two digit number is your fault code. If you miss it. It will continue flashing the code or codes until you shut the ignition off.

Click on the link to reference your code. Use the column labeled MIL.

I've seen people damage the pins using a paper clip. So be careful if you are using one. I keep a wire terminal fork connector in my glovebox. Use whatever you have man. Just be careful. Did you find the plug?
