Car isn't starting right

Here's my problem. A couple days ago my car wouldn't start. I just thought it was a dead battery but I didn't leave anything on over night. My friend gave me a jump anyway and the car started fine. Well it didn't it again later that day, so I got another jump. 2 days paseed and I didn't have any problems. Today I tried turning it over and it just clicked. Then I thought well maybe I didn't push the clutch down all the way. So I tried starting it again and didn't do anything just a click. So I tried it for a third with the clutch all the way down and this time it started right up. I turned the car off and tried starting it and it just clicked. I know I had the clutch down all the way too. I tried it again and the car started. The battery was bought in August 2001. Is there anyway it could be my battery? Maybe the starter, but if it was the started it wouldn't go good then bad then good again will it? Please help.

yea i had the same problem. it wouldn't start after a couple of times i tried. try holding down the clutch, but not all the way. let your foot loose about a half inch from the floor. it works for me all the time.

Have the starter engagement switch checked... anything mechanical can break (or have dirty contacts)
