Car is DEAD!!!

I was driving to Albertsons and noticed my lights were dimmer than ever before (I had them on the birghtest setting). So on my way back home, my car just floors itself, I was like WTF!!!. What cop would ever believe that. you know. And then all my gears start to slip. And then, my tach goes crazy, my rpm and mph needles drop to 0. So i'm drving at around 30 mph but with everything saying 0mph. Once I get home, I put my car in garage, and let it sit, cause itz doing something funny now. It was reving itself, and my vtec controller was saying it was at .0 throttle when my foot was completely off the gas, and then the car dies after like 25 secs of that. Now my car wont start, but my battery works just fine. I think my alternator blew, what do you guys think? :'(

funny. my car just had the same probalem .

be prepared to spend 250+ for a new built alternator..

you must have left your car in a garage for a while or had to jump your battery and spiked the alternator

find a nice shop that rebuild alternator and you can get one for 75 bucks and you can upgrade to a 180 amp for i think 100 more so 150-175 tops

i think the alternator form the dimming lights but the revving and shit and gasing itself i dont know man

but alternator maybe, take it off and take it to autozone or something like that and have it tested for sure that its the problem

You got ripped off if you paid 250. I already knew it'd cost me about 80 bucks, but yea, I'm going for the 180 amp one for the few extra bucks. So how good is the 180 amp one? How many amps does the stock one put out?

A new alternator shouldn't be more than $200 anywhere, but you can definitely get it for around $150. It's also fairly easy to install.

our cars just seem to eat alternators... i kill them so often now its not funny. but added stress (read : stereo system) or running 3 george foreman grilles in the backseat arent good for it.

luckily i have free 180 amp ones for life, lifetime warranty owns

Man.. where did you get alifetime warranty on that? Is it the alternator that has the warranty, or is it a warranty by acura, or what?

Got it fixed. Bought a 130 amp alternator and installed it with my friend. The only thing is we couldnt get that damn UR alt pully off, so I have a stock alt pully on right now. But I'll get it put back on if we cant do it some other time. Felt good to drive my car again after 4 days of not doing so.

Oh, and I went to a secret meet today. It was bad ass, bar-b-que and a DJ. I got to see 3 Skylines, 2 of em being R33. And there was a silvia with a R34 swap. There were a lot of bad ass FD's, and the spoon S2K was there too.
