You guys need to do something about this search problem. I hate that you can't search for any words with 3 letters or less. Which mean I can't search or Ron Jon, AEM, V2, CAI, 3.0, 2.3, 2.2, oil, etc. This mean if I want to search for "3.0 AEM V2 intake" all I'll get is results for intake which doesn't help me. This is why people post the same threads over and over
again because you can't search for what you want. Am I the only one that thinks this is a dumb rule?

 

yeah.. it would help if that were changed. I believe soopa said they were going to do that when they were doing some major work on the site a few months ago, but its still the same

 

I dont think I ever search for three letter words, but the 60 second thing bothers me sometimes (Im assuming its there for a good reason though).

 

The 60 second is to reduce traffic to make less of a load on the server.
btw, I lust leard ronjon was not spelled "ron jon" so no one harass me over that, I'm sorry.

searching for strings under 3 letters puts too much of a load on the servers, sorry but it isnt going to change. at least not anytime soon.

 

Boolean search would be the best way to go.

 

It puts a lot on the servers, AND we are the low class, peon, scum of AZ, nobody cares

 

i hate that i have to wait 5 minutes to double post....


















the 1 minute search thing is my only complaint,but for all the stuff i learned/shared/laughed at, and the people i met/talked to, it's a minor issue that i can overlook, i'll wait the extra minute to search and if i don't feel like waiting i'll start a thread and blame the search functions when everyone tells me search

What about only allowing certain 3 letter combinations to be searched. Obviously some people would just abuse the 3 letter search.

CAI, V2, AEM, 2.3, 3.0

Those seem too important NOT to have in the search

 

it's not a server load problem, it's the fact we'd have to redo the search indexes, which means taking the site offline for up to 3 days.

use a * with your 3 letter terms guys

The only thing that really bothers me is 60 sec. search time. Especially when I type it in wrong..Then I have to wait 60 sec. end up doing something else while im waiting and then forgetting about the whole thing all together.
