Broken.. Fans.. Radiator.. Thermometer?

I was out feeding the homeless today and we needed some worship music so... until we bought a CD player i opted to pull up my car, pop the doors and fill the area with some worship...

Look back and my car has a nice amount of smoke rising out of the engine bay... Gotta love that... so i walked over turned the engine off cursing it under my breath and popped the hood. And to my joy My Radiator fluid reservoir is being deformed... and i can see the fluid boiling inside of it.

You can imagine my love for this, i was just praising god, and i look over to discover that my car is smoking(It must have really enjoyed that worship session!)

It took a good 30minutes for it too start smoking.

Let it cool off, and then closed the hood, then it drove fine. It was actually driving really well today, maybe because of the rain and temperature drop, it was responding like a beast.

For the past few weeks i've noticed the thermometer readings skyrocketing randomly, then dropping if i break hard, or if i crank the heat... then once they drop i turn the heat off and it never raises again. So i wrote it off as a broken thermometer and figured I'd replace it down the road.

When I talked with some of the guys around there we narrowed it down to either being a bad Radiator... Bad Fans... Bad Fan Relays... or a bad Thermometer....

I personally don't think see how a bad thermometer would cause it... but it makes sense if the car can't see how hot it is.. the fans wont turn on.. but im still getting a Temp reading which seems accurate so that can't be it...?

I haven't seen the fans turn on AT ALL even when im blasting the heat, or blasting the AC... If there is a way to check that im not doing, please let me know =]

So what do yall think the issue is? Fans.. Fan Relays... Thermometer...?

And happy Thanksgiving!

From: is everything.
Fans should come on with the AC, if they don't I would start checking all fuses.

Update:

Me being as lazy and broke as I am waited to test any of this, and just let it go... turning the heat on when needed. Cracked the radiator yesterday, called my dad and he called up Napa and brought me one home, installed it today. Issue fixed

Turns out the radiator fan motor died :/ When i had it ripped apart i threaded some copper wiring from some spare amp power wires into the plug and hooked up my jumper cables to them, AC fan turned on, the radiator one didnt. So I moved the AC fan into the Radiator fan spot, and im gonna use it like that until i buy a replacement fan.

Had issues getting the lower radiator hose off so i cut it off with a minisaw, still fit onto the radiator barely but ehh its good :p

The A/C fan does not move enough air to cool the radiator efficiently. If you run the A/C in hot weather while in traffic you will overheat. I had the same problem with my radiator main cooling. Read This thread. I have a cheap and effective replacement for the main cooling fan.
