brake switch

so on my my 97 3.0, the brake lights stopped working suddenly, and also the shift lock dosent disengage when i step on the brake pedal.. can i assue that the little switch behind the brake pedal is to blame? if so, how complicated is it to switch/iinstall? I checked the fuse boxes, i dont see any fuses labeld for controlling the brake lights/gear shift lock..

I also just recently changed my brake pads, is there anyway this could be connected?

no.. thres a recall on the shift interlocking system.. call acura and tell them the problem and they should pay for a towtruck. and do the recall.. also dont tell them about you changing the brakes, just dont give them any reason not to do the recall..

the brake pads wouldn't have anything to do with that....look under the dash at where the switch is and press the pedal and see if the button pops out...sometimes they can get stuck.

Do the recall... There is no reason not to. Acura pays for it, and you benifit from it.

yeah i checked the switch it does pop out freely, so the recall is on the switch itself? i think i checked my vin once for recalls , the only thing that came up with the ignition switch recall, that the same recall?

do the recall, anything you can get the dealer to fix/pay for is worth having them fix.
