Brake Lamp issue

says my brake lamp is out.

swapped bulbs, doesnt work still says brake lamp out.

returned bulbs for new bulbs, still doesnt work and says

"BRAKE LAMP" near the trunk icon on the tach.

The parking light filament works though.

havent checked any fuses yet.

anyone have this problem?

do HIDs have any effect on the other lights in the car?

impossible. the wire harness i built you completely isolates the xenon system from all oem circuits. the + trigger is also protected by a diode preventing any flowback from the relay.

check all the brake lamps the tails and the 3rd. also you ebrake can be acting up which would cause the same error light on the dash if i remember right.

E-brake on even slightly could cause it.

If your e-brake is on the console, you may have had an issue with the wiring for it with the console swap

Sounds like loose brake handle, or my problem when I kept blowing brake light bulbs was water in the bulb socket

That's not for the brake light, it means your trunk is open!

Nah, just kidding...

I have never seen that on the 2nd Gen, even when my third brake light was out...

I wonder if it is one of the other bulbs in the housing!?! You check all of the bulbs in there?
You try having someone hit the brakes while you are behind the car to see if one is really out or if it is misreading?

Did the body shop take out the lights when painting it? Maybe a wire got fucked or disconnected...

yeah thats what i think is the problem.

I mean honestly, if the lights were off the car and put back on

and then about 1,200 miles down the road it throws some bullshit

at me about BRAKE LAMP, when indeed the brake light doesnt work-

why wouldn't it work when the bulb is replaced....

fishy shit

If moisture is a problem, try using some dielectric grease in the bulb sockets.

okay,

its clear that im the idiot of the day and i changed my parking bulb, NOT my brake lamp.

I didnt come to think that the parking light at the bottom is also the turn signal.

::smacks head::

Which brings me to another question:

When I was pulled over the cop asked me if I live here (Florida).

I lied to the officer because my Plates / Insurance / Registration / Liscense

are all NY. I still have a home in NY. I just didn't want to go through with

all of the questions and bullshit that he'd ask me, I was sure that this guy was a prick.

After he came back with the fix it ticket (and a warning for my exhaust) he asked me for

my phone number. I gave it to him......

Why would he ask for my phone number? (and BTW I dont have a FL phone number either)
