Best times to shift?

Quick question for everyone, when actually racing these CL's what are the best times to shift 1st into 2nd, 2nd into 3rd, etc....? I read that once you're past 5500 rpm we really dont gain anymore power?

I have no clue about shifting for race application so i was googling and read about power shifting, is that safe in our cars?

I drive a 5spd manual.

Don't power shift. If you're on a racetrack using racing equipment, fine, but you're going to end up bouncing off the rev limiter and spinning the tires. This causes unnecessary strain on the engine and drivetrain. Our cars are not racecars.

Just shift at redline. If you shift too early, you'll be out of your powerband in the next gear.

If you come across a little money, try to find an H22 tranny or do an H2B conversion with a B16 transmission. That would certainly make the car faster. The CL is geared so long that it practically falls out of the powerband when shifting at redline.

h2b would be too expensive for what its worth. h22 tranny would be best cost effective.

I was reading about that, glad to find it out its not something pure text. Once i manage to save up some money i'll have to find one Thanks yall! Is it just a quick bolt in? Or does it need to have custom work done?

I was looking at TB spacer today too, are those BS? Trying to find all the relatively inexpensive parts that add up in the end to help performance.

Lol does that mean they really add no benefit for performance? Even far down the road after other mods?

Supposeably they do give you a couple of HP but that's TOPS and you wouldn't even notice it. Sure, it could be something to brag about with friends that don't know much about cars, but with car people, they might chuckle.
