Dont sweat that stupid Accord style adapter piece. When you take the stock stereo out, that little pocket w/the fuzzy inside should have some tabs on the sides that in most cases will mount up to the after market stereos. They have fillips style screws on them to adjust it.

I had Custom Sounds here in Austin install a Alpine 9815 in my car. I had the cassette deck so he had to get a pocket for it. The one he got pretty much matches perfectly. My only complaint is that the Alpine sticks out further than the stock did. They are working on a custom mount for me though. If anyone wants to see pics let me know.
Also got a Alpine V12 5 channel in the trunk with Boston 6 1/2 components up front and Boston 6/9 3 ways in the back. It sounds SWEET! Have a 10 inch sub for fill.

YOu don't really need a dash kit, if you have the stock pocket on bottom, u could mount the aftermarket HU to that and put it in. I hate how the dash kit looks because the HU sticks out.

I got that same HU and yeah it does stick out....post some pics up of your install...i would love to see them. I couldnt get the stock pocket to stick so i just bought the mounting kit. Its just a empty space with no door. I hate it. Need the door. If anyone wants to know....94-97 accord kit works fine.

P.S. 9815 rules. Song Navi is so easy.

I have the 9815. And my dash kit isn't even flush with the rest of the dash. It sticks out and then the HU sticks out even more. I wanted to use the stock pocket, but that wouldn' t be enough to support the headunit would it??? Mine has those supports that attach to the back of the HU then screws in to add support. The pocket doen't even attach to the dash, it just attaches to the HU. SO, what do I use to keep support to the 9815?????

i have the alpine 1.5 din in my cl and i am proud to say that i installed it myself. it was quite the challenge and i actually took a jigsaw and went crazy on everything. i then cut a "filler piece" and attached a cl symbol. i also have blue neon underdash lights and led lights facing down on the deck. actually turned out very clean and sharp. anybody wants to see pics, i have a bunch, but no posting capablity. i'll send the pics to somebody to post...please! thanks to any willing volunteers

I know exactly what you mean. Theres only that one hole in the back of the HU that you have to support the entire head unit. Because I couldnt find the piece that Alpine wants us to use, I had to use the mounting kit. The stock pocket doesnt have enough support to hold the HU. I tried alot of stuff to keep the HU from moving around with the stock pocket and it wouldnt stick. Without the kit, the HU just moves around too much.

As for the dash kit sticking out, not sure why your kit sticks out. Mine actually goes in a little more than flushed and then the HU sticks out. I got my kit from circuit city. Its a kit that fits a whole bunch of different Honda models including the 1st gen CL. You just have to be careful of what tabs to break off and what tabs to keep on there. Hope some of this knowledge helps.

I had the 7894 before I bought my Alpine. That deck is sweet! Good choice.

The 7894 is a little shorter than the stock deck. I don't do things half ass so I made a custom bracket for the rear of the deck to sit on. You don't have to put anything back there but it will sag a little and it's only noticable when you really pay close attention. The HU fits fine in the DIN.

I also used black weather stripping so the head unit wouldn't shift side to side. It worked like a charm.

I've been on the boards for about 1 fucking year now and I still don't know how to post pics!!! If you want a couple pics, get me on AOL BelAir518

:pee: Circuit city Anyway i had the kit from crutchfield with the eq slot and it looked terrible so i used the bottom of the kit and use electrical tape (ghetto yes, but it worked and other use it too) to keep the stock pocket and it moved my flip down face so its almost flush as opposed to sticking out a lot

You have to host the pic somewhere and then once you have a web address for the pic, start with img and end with /img kinda like this

So I redid everything in my dash. I took out that stupid dash kit and installed the 9815 custom. To give it support, I stuck another "cage" on the back half of the HU and mounted the stock supports onto that cage (by cage I mean that metal piece that slides over the HU for mounting into a dash kit) Looks SOOOO much better, here is your pic........

Me having no money = circuit city

Didnt have money at that time and I really want my HU to be secure. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Couldnt help it, but it works. Sorry for being cheap

P.S. this was the only time I ever bought anything from circuit city.
