Best Gasoline to Use?
What's the best gas to use? Are there any studies that show which are better than the others when it comes to additives? I use Chevron most of the time only because I've had a lot of mechanics tell me that Techron works really well. Any thoughts people?

ENGAGE MY VTEC BABY!!!!!!
I use 92 octane and then i use a stp gas mpg booster i like the combo and i think i get 3-4 mpg better with the stp fuel stuff but i use 92 only becuase of the vafc that i have. you need it for that for all you others that dont have a vafc i would use the middle one or even use the 92 octane i like the high octane

I'm not so much concerned with the octane rating. I was wondering if one brand of gas is better than the other when it comes to performance, leaving deposits, etc.

i've read/heard that it is best to switch companies periodically due to the fact that each gas has different additives...and using the same gas would get a build up of the additive..it was something like this...anyone else heard this??

Octane will make no difference in a 4 or 6 cylinder engine that is not severely modded. You only need additional octane if you are running a high compression engine. I have a 99 CL and a 91 vette. I have to put at least 91 octane in the vette or it will not run properly. The CL only needs 87. Anything higher than that and you are wasting your money. Higher octane will work if your engine is beginning to go bye bye to get rid of a knock but wont boost performance. That is a myth. Any performance increase you think you are getting from higher octance gas in a stock CL engine is purely Psychological in nature. In fact 93 octane may run worse than 87 because it is harder to detonate and these are relatively low compression engines. As far as brads go it is true that if you switch brads every 5,000 miles or so you will help remove deposits because of different addidtive packages in different brands. More important is that you use a good gas. Any of the major brands is fine (Exxon/Mobil, Texaco/Shell, Chevron, etc).

Using nitrous every 5K, I mean 5 miles, just seems to give me that extra push that I need!
SERIOUSLY: use 87 octane! Our engines were made to run on 87!!!!
I'm running 93 octane (for the nitrous setup), and I get the worst mileage ever! [20 mpg versus 26-28 mpg on 87 octane.] I'm running cooler plugs, and that definitely impacts the mileage, but the increase in octane severely reduces gas mileage.
I don't have any recommendation for which brand is best. I primarly use Citgo.

You summed it up perfectly. There were even dyno's that showed the 3.0 lost hp on 93 octane versus 87. This car is designed for 87, so use it. Unless you are running turbo/nitrous/have boosted compression, you do not need 93. I know my car runs better and goes further on 87. All 93 will do is make it harder for the engine to burn it and will result in wasted gas/performance/efficiency.

YEP, use the 87. You'll get better gas mileage. Read the owner's manual.
I get 400+ miles to every tank with Highway, Street, and WOT usage.
If you only get 250 mi to the tank I think you need to try out some 87 octane.
Higher octane means the gas "ignites" less easily. Therefore you may not be using all the gas in your chamber because you don't have high comp. etc. You'll create more deposits, more wasted gas, richer emissions, lower power, and a lighter wallet.
But that's cool if you want to use it...

Gas to use...my opinion
Hi,
This is my first time in here and first post. To reply to your gas question:
I pretty much only use Chevron or Texaco, mostly because they seem to not suck performance from my car. I have used others when desperate, but they just seemed to make my car sluggish. I never use any high octane because I have heard this doesn't do anything "extra" for your car, but I could be wrong.

Shattered front windshield - any advice? Recommended service centers?
Looking for clear or alternate color turn signal lamps....any advice appreciated!!

Gas Mileage...per tank
Just wanted to reply again to the miles issue...
For a while using Chevron, I was getting 330-340 per tank. That was until traffic started sucking and now I'm forced to obey slower speed limits!
This was with 87

You guys need to realize that all of the gas companies get their gas from the same refineries. They may claim that they add some super crazy addititive that does a lot, but it is probably no different than what other companies put in their gasoline. Don't believe all the hype. They may also claim that 93 is cleaner or better for your car, but that is bs also.
