a bad day at the mechanic shop for 3 hours

just got this frikin car a week ago, knowing there would be some issues to fix.

#1 i thought i needed a new speed sensor cause there was some ticking going on. come to find out, there is ticking inside the tranny case after 20mph or so. not sure what it is...

#2 i am riding on the inside of the wheels (it has stock suspension). went to get the camber and toe adjusted and there is no way to adjust them on these cars (so they say)

#3 there is some rubbing/clanking going on in my steering colum. some type of universal joint or something. i went to advanced auto parts to get it and they said it is a dealer part.

#4 there is some squeaking going on in the front of the car and i checked the sway bar link (bushings) and they are rotten to hell. so i got a set for each side, 30 bucks total

#5 this is the funny part, to end my pissed-off-ness... origionally the day after i got the car, i went to get it alligned and the guy said my camber bolts were froze to the nuts and i needed new ones. come to find out, after ordering them for $160 and going to get them installed, they were not froze. the guy was just... i dont know... i am lost for another word for idiot. so after i paid for an allignment, thinking they were going to adjust my camber and toe, i find out they didnt. i already paid for the allignment and they wont give me my money back. SOOOOOO..... not i have to complain to get my money back for the allignment i didnt need and my money for the parts i didnt use.

badddd baddd day for me and a waste of time.

small things though right? besides the tranny for the obvious reasons... but this other stuff is pretty minor and easily fixed right?

still not a bad deal for $2700 right?

Everything is easily fixable except the tranny issue, but 2700 aint bad, how many miles?

bought it a week ago and it has 137k on the dash...

one thing though, couldnt tell by looking at it (besides the gap on the good) this car was wrecked and has a rebuilt title. other than that, there isnt any issues other than what you know of. oh, and the seats are starting to show wear.

Welcome to my world. Tranny is ticking like crazy, 80% of my bushings are rotted away, suspension is crap, calipers are clicking, 3 bent rims... thats the life of my CL. And I take very good care of this thing, outside of not being able to repair most of these problems cuz of money.

how much would a tranny cost for these? and could you get one with a 5th gear?

can you swap from maybe an accord or something?

yeah, if you're gonna spend that much might as well just do the h22 swap w/ tranny. honestly I wouldn't even mess with a replacement tranny for these cars...they're really really crappy and it's just another crap shot.

Fortunately I haven't had any issues with my car recently, but just dumped about 700 on the 100k mile service...but she's running like a champ now. good luck with yours..2300 is pretty cheap, but if it was a salvaged title, I can see why

well, as of yesterday, i fixed the ticking. i THOUGHT i took the complete speed sensor out, but i didnt. i never got the hear out. lol. shows you what i know about a VSS. so after i took it out, the ticking stopped. so i am assuming my tranny is fine.
yes, i am sure the factory tranny sucks on these cars, but it gets me around...for now.

also, i fixed the sway bar links and there is no more sqweeking.

rotated the tires and now the loudness is coming from the front apposed to the rear. the tires are not wearing evenly and there is gaps in the tread. so i am going to see if i cant smoke the tires and even them out a bit. if not, i am thinking after a few hundred miles, they will wear themselves right. HOPE SO ATLEAST
