Automatic Transmission Prob

Has anyone else had problems with the transmission shifting hard or shifting at the wrong time (too soon or too late)? I've also noticed that when I'm arround 40 mph, and 2K RPM's, if I push lightly on the gas, I hear a sound like "valve knock". someone told me to put it in D3 at that speed, but other CL owners tell me they don't have that problem. Anyone know what might be done?

That’s odd. Honda's auto transmissions are known to be bullet proof.

I never liked the tranny in my 2.3 cl, not smoothe at all, my cousin has a 2.2 cl, the transmission isn't smoothe on that either. but then again, i have a lexus too and i guess it just doesn't compare to it.

it doesn't seem to be the tranny though, it seems to be the engine is running out of power when i mash the gas in 4th...stupid 2.2....

there is an issue with shudder/judder (the Acura term) at low speeds, between 30-40 mostly, the "fix" is to drop to D3 at low speeds....I have a 99 3.0 and have minor issues with this but it is very very smooth in D3 at low speed...so that's what I do. Otherwise the car is perfect!

you just have to know the perfect amount of gas to give the car so it shifts properly.

when you hit the gas going 40mph w/an auto its going to want to down shift from 4th either to 2nd or 3rd depending on how hard you mash the pedal.
