Many people with domestic vehicles have had good luck with them.

They want $1510 shipped for a remanufactured transmission for your CL.

There is a $550 ? core charge that is refundable.

So add in 6 hrs labor...and you should be good for about $2000-$2100.

Hope this helps,
Mike
the company is also on ebay the name is "phoenix-remanufactured-transmissions"
they have the 3.0L tranny $1095.00 buy now with $260.00 shipping

and the 2.2L tranny for $825.00 buy now with $260.00 shipping

No, those aren't the correct transmissions.

The transmissions you listed are for the older Accords.

The 3.0CL takes the M7ZA transmission, which is only avaliable at this link:

hey thanks alot for the help guys. I appreciate the links and info!

I found a local trans shop and the guy says he'll rebulid + change solanoids + new TC for about $1,500 so I think I'll go with him since he has the same 12k mile / 1 year warranty as everyone else, same parts and is cheaper. Also I checked the better business beuro and they have a clean record. Any reason this doesn't sound like the right plan?

Sounds great....but that's awfully cheap for a rebuild, solenoids, and TC....really suspicious. Parts could easily run you near $1000.

You might want to check w/him as to what he considers a rebuild. At a minimum, rebuilds should contain the following:

1) All new filters
2) New Seals/Gaskets
3) Sealing Rings
4) Pistons
5) Steels
6) Friction Plates

Replaced as needed:
1) Bushings/Bearings
2) Gears
3) Clutches
4) Valve Body
5) Torque Converter
7) etc....

OK well I ended up getting the transmission rebuilt by a local guy and it costed $1,800 total. He replaced all the solanoids, the Torque converter, rebuilt it, and replaced about $350 of hard parts. It is shifting much better, but it still seems like its not really smooth into 2nd gear. Is this how yours are too? He said it will have a break in period of 500 miles where it continues to get smoother.

Mine shifted smoothly off the bat, but yeah on the break in, just be a granny for a month or so... I didn't start doing anything rough with mine untill I had a good 1000 miles on it. But now, I gate in traffic and romp on it now and then. Still nice and smooth.

The transmission may need some time to break-in, but its possible that you've trained the ECU to hold the gears longer through aggressive driving. You can usually reset the adaptive properties by removing the battery cables overnight, if desired.

Otherwise, I would look for the fluid as the cause. Many rebuilders tend to add Lubegard Black to Dex III ATF for use in Hondas, which is fine if changed frequently. However, Hondas do tend to shift a bit harder so they may need a bit more than the usual 1oz/qt dosage to obtain smooth shifting. I've heard that 1.25-1.5 oz/qt is sometimes necessary to achieve smooth shifting.
