Has anyone ever tried changing their auto tranny from a 3.0 CL to manual? Could it be done?

 

It has been done before, don't remeber by who. Check the search.

I think your options are the older 6-speed Legends, and the new(er) 6-speed CLs.

 

I did it to my 2.3 CL.

In all honesty the amount of time and money required to do it to a 3.0 I would suggest you sell your 3.0 and either buy a 5 speed 1st gen or 6 speed 2nd gen CL.

It really is a hard process to fit a 6 spd tranny into your 3.0. From custom mounting brakets since the tranny doesn't fit to the problem finding a replacement ecu. The ECU is what really makes it hard in my book. There no manual 3.0 ecu you can use so your best option is buying a fully promable ecu and making a custom program just for your car. AEM makes an ecu like that but it will set you back around $1,200 just for the ecu.

Yeah I knew it would be complicating. I'll just wait till i'm done paying off the CL and go with a manual Honda or Acura. Thx.

 

What exhaust system do yah'll recommend for my 3.0? I really like Greddy and I had a Greddy catback on my 2.2 before. Companys make more aftermarket parts for 2.2 and 2.3 CL's rather than 3.0. That suck!

someone has already done this on the 3.0, it was a long time ago and he hasnt been on in a while but the cost was 6g for the install and the tranny and all but he ran into more problems than expected and the ecu did not like the new tranny and everything was going haywire

i would stick to the auto tranny and not the 6spd due to the fact that its TOO much money

you can beef up the tranny from dr. evil tranmissions if you want to do some heavy engine work or racing, they have reviews on it over at www.v6performance.net but no one here has got one yet on the CL and the website is www.dreviltransmissions.com
