Audio install Question

Anyone ever install an aftermarket deck yet keep the stock one there to be a decoy? If you did how did you hide your other deck? My car just got broken into, go figure I didn't know the factory alarm wouldn't go off if the window was smashed. Alarm issue resolved with an aftermarket one mated with proximity sensor + pins + some other goodies

My idea is to have some kinda door that can slide over the aftermarket deck once you remove the faceplate.

I don't want to have my car broken into again so trying to think of ways to mnimize the risk, and my factory Bose Cdplayer is crapping out getting the wonderful PEO errors all the time now.

well since you have a better alarm you can get your radio back in there. I had someone think about that once, but thats just crazy. If you live in that bad of area, then I guess you have to do something. But if you go bumping your sound system around, then everyone is going to know you have a system even if you hide it.

I never bump within a mile before parking the car. Also, besides being tasteless, putting any type of sticker that advertises audio brand names attracts thieves.

just follow these simple rules

1. invest in a good alarm
2. turn down your music at least 2 blocks away from wherever youre going to park
3. take the faceplate off your deck
4. just utilize simple common sense and you should be ok

If he wants it bad enough, he's gonna snatch it. Just use good sense and keep your fingers crossed. Not much more you can do untill they legalize flame-throwing 50,000 volt taser alarm systems. Shock 'em then toast 'em for good measure.

I'm hoping that the proximity sensor will deter people, sometimes I think just by seeing the deck (without faceplate) may cause people to break in to see what other things are in the car.
That's what I'm concerned about.

Music was actually off before I got there, was on the cell phone at the time. I've parked there several times and had no problems at all, I'm just paranoid right now.

There are people who have done this before. I think they may be on www.Honda-Acura.net . The usually keep the deck in the stock location and put the aftermarket one in the glove box. Then they had a wired remote to control it.

just keep your shit locked up, take your face plate, get a paging alarm with the keyfob, and don't bump around where you live.

Yea my car got ripped off once....my new alarm =

1st deg blackbelt in hapkido and kumdo and the knowlege to snap somebody in half
took 2 people to try and break into my house 1 time for the neighborhood to learn not to fuck with my house or my cars

but seriously, do this, get some clothes and just kinda toss it up by the radio, thats what i do in neighborhoods i dont know and turning it down is obvious. Thats just common sense.
