ah good call. reading > me. although after doing audio work for years, i can tell you there is really little to no difference between each kit. just the look of each different kit, and of course.. what the general consumer believes is the better company.

I had a metra 99-7898 kit and it does not sit in the opening correct. There is a gap on top. I wanted to try a different kit. If you know the scochse kit code let me know. I need to try another kit.

i have a metra and it sits perfectly flush in my space, you may have just gotten a bad molding one. see if you can return it?

or use the proper support for it down below...

hell metra's all we used, they always worked well.

dude, scoschse and the metra kit are pretty much the same! lol!
But it just matters how you mount it!

The rear bracket on that Metra kit, do you screw it into the the bracket where the OEM radio was? The holes line up when I hold it up next to the bracket. Do you put the panel back on first before you mount the kit or after? The top of my kit does not line up at the top. Duck tape will help.

scoshe or metra, they're pretty much identical, and you'll want one for the 94-97 accord

I have the Best Kits trim ring. It looks ok to me. Any of them will probably be fine.

Metra / Scosche, same thing really. If it's not sitting flush then that means you didn't break enough or didn't break the right tabs off the kit. I will say the Scosche kits for this honda dash style do seem to work better. The tabs were better arranged. I've put in hundreds of radios with that kit and the only Honda's that give a problem are the 98-03 CR-V's. The dash around the trim warps on those and it looks bad.

I've seen some CLEAN installs done this way and they look great and sit flush with the factory pocket like the stock radio.

+1 for Scosche. When my old HU got stolen the insurance company tried to make me use some crappy generic dash kit that didn't even come close to sitting flush. I've got this one and it fits perfectly.

Did you have to cut any tabs off? Can you mount that to the bracket where the OEM radio was?

You should have good results with the AI kit. I used it in my car and it sits flush in the hole and the radio doesnt stick out as much as with other kits.
