Audio Advice

I'm going shopping today to check out some new speakers to replace my stock paper POS's.....any recommendations as to what brand i should get? I need the trunk space for the next year until i'm done w/ school, so i can't get any subs. Also, any ideas for a good head unit? I don't have the $$$ to get anything too elaborate, but does anybody know if there's a deck that will work w/ the steering wheel controls (by adaptor)??
THANKS!!!!!

well, for speakers, MB quarts are about the best on the market, so I would say go with those, and as for a headdeck, I personally prefer pioneer primer, thats just me though, but there are other good headdecks out there, but definately MB quarts for speakers

You can get them here, or on Ebay for cheap. I have the 165V, there is also a link to their website at the top of the page.

If you read his post you would have noticed that he's a college kid without a big budget. I would assume that he's not gonna want to pay for Focal or MB Quarts.

I would recommend a decent mid-range Pioneer Headunit (I have the DEH 6300 and I love it)

For speakers on a budget I'd go with Infinity Reference - I just hooked up a pair of 6x9s in my friend's Camry to his Pioneer head unit and they sound great. I have Pioneer 3-way 6x9s in my CL hooked up to a MTX amp and they sound awesome.

As for you question regarding the steering wheel controls: you can get an adaptor to work them as long as the head unit you get has a wirless remote. The adaptor wires into the factory steering wheel controls. Then you have to program the adaptor using the remote from your headunit. Finally you have to mount a tiny infrared sender somewhere near the front of the radio : I mounted mine near the ashtray.

Hope this helps

Yeah, i'm a broke ass college student fo sho Thanks for all the advice & ideas. Anybody here like Jensen speakers?? (hahaha, just kidding) Anything i buy will be better than the stock speakers....except for shit like Jensens I'm going to keep lookin' fo speakers....
In regards to head units, I've been looking into XM radio too, any of you know of people who've got it? Pioneer makes a couple of snazzy XM head units, but i don't want to have to sell a kidney or lung in order to buy one. I'll pry wait on the head unit until the fall after i've got more money. Also, do any of you know of somebody w/ a first gen CL w/ any sort of navigation? I know the DVD navi decks exist, and i know there's plenty of room in my console to put something like that......is it feasible? possible? worth saving for?
THANKS FOR THE REPLIES....i better go donate some plasma
