ARGHHHHH!!! HID problems....
OK, I just started a thread on the Photo section showing off my 6000K HID that i just installed...and now i have a problem with it...
After 2 days of working flawlessly, tonight I turned on the headlight (lowbeam) and only the driver's side worked...after turning off and on again, the high beam and the lowbeam both turned on even though i didn't activate the high beam...the pass side lights didn't turn on... so now i'm driving around with only the corner lights on...
Did anyone experience this? How do you fix the prob?
I'll post pics of the prob later...

hmm...
make sure u turn the lights on AFTER u start the car. the amount of energy that takes to start the car can sometimes back fire on the hids, causing them to shut off.. and maybe screw them up.

or you have a loose wire. Do like nitez said and only turn the lights on after starting the car as well. Otherwise, you may have a bad ballasts, are these kaixen or an ebay kit?
ebay kit...
It's too late now but i'll take your advice and only turn the light on after i started the car...
I'll bring it to the mech i always go to...may be he can fix it...

If nothing else, contact the ebay seller and tell him it's defective if the ballast doesn't work after starting the car. Otherwise, just do that. Sounds like a bad saulter or somethin

wow your high beams went on without activating it...sounds like a bad install... lol
HID kits should not affect the high beams in no way because it has nothing to do with it in our model. Could possibly be defective bulb or ballast or just plain bad install.
The only problem i went througnh with hid was the bulb arrived broken...I had to contact the seller and got it replaced.

I wouldn't recommend having your aftermarket HIDs on when you start your car. 2nd Gens have the auto off feature when driver turns the car off. Sooooo, the lights automatically turn on when unlocking the car.
-Sounds like bad install, wires heated up and soldered together, or a bad ballast. If you smell anything funny turning the lights on you KNOW you burned a wire somewhere. It's usually where you connect the bulb.

I have to revisit this thread...
I just got the Kaixen kit today and after i put it on, only one side works. I've switched ballasts and bulbs and they all function properly, just that the driver's side doesn't turn on....
I'd even replace the 9006 harnesses (got two from Autozone)...
IDK what's wrong, anyone has this problem? How did you fix it?

Excelerate: i checked the fuses already and they are working properly, i'm pretty sure it's the wiring somewhere, i need to get to a shop and have them check it out... just hope there's someone opens today...

but if you give me a detailed instruction, i can do it...Josh: There's a guy in my car club that just traded in his tC so he gave it to me for $150; only thing is that it's a 6500K, not the 6000k i hoped for.... he's used it for 3 months so i'm good, but when this kit goes, i'll be sure to hit you up.
Anyways, how do i wire the kit directly to the battery? what parts do i need? do i need to worry about grounding issue (dumb question, but i'll ask anyhow)?
Ok.
If you just want to run one side off of the other side, just buy some appropriate gauge wire and solder it to the wires going to the unit for an extension long enough to reach the other side...
Run the wires across in an inconspicuous location and splice it to the wires (same color on each side) from the working side (before the unit again).
Honestly, I would fix whatever the wiring issue is myself. Can't be to hard... Just get a light tester and check the wires going to the unit for power (make sure your lights are on).
If your lights worked fine prior to the install, there should be no reason they aren't getting power now. Only reason I could think of for that, is that you broke the wire somewhere, maybe it got pinched and grounded out, maybe you rubbed it up against a sharp edge moving it around during the install... Worse case scenario, just run a new wire as close to the switch as possible to replace it...
Another thought, the wire used from the factory may have had a fuse-able link in the wire itself that burnt out. Oh, did you make sure that the polarity is correct???
Not sure what to tell you, I know a lot about working with electricity but I'm not sure how to explain this...

Here's the problem:
Before i put the HID on, i had Silverstars and both sides worked fine. When i installed the Kaixen kit, i made sure that the polarity, connection, etc. were correct before i turned the lights on (started the car before turned on the light to prevent overload...), this is when the Driver's side HID doesn't light up....
The bulbs and ballasts were working properly. I switched bulbs and then ballasts to test both sides, only the pass. lights up...
Now the thing is when i put in the silverstar in the driver's side and the HID in the pass, BOTH of them worked but the color/output was totally different as expected... I'll post some pics up this afternoon when the sun's down a little bit...
