Anyone flush their coolant system? Any tips?
I'll be doing this this weekend. I neglected to do it since I've had the car. I've had no problems with the cooling system but want to do the old "winterizing" and preventative maintenence.
Should I drain the antifreeze and then stick a hose in the top and let it run and flush for a bit?
Other tips?

You only have to let it run until the water draining is clear. I think I've also heard that warm water is good to use, but I'm not 100% on that.
Also, make sure that the drain pan is large enough. You'll probably have to empty it out a few times while flushing.

Thanks,
Got about a 5 gal plastic pan that i use for oil changes. I think I can clean that up some and use it.
I read on the antifreeze bottle that you just have to dispose of it into the toilet. Not into the drain sewer but a sanitary sewer.
I think I'm going to get that Prestone flush that I saw. I think you fill it up and put that flush stuff in, then run the car for a bit and then drain it all and finally fill it for good.

Just make sure you don't leave an abundance of water in the radiator/block.
Good luck!

A coworker ran head on into a wall in a parking lot, totalled his car, got an insurance check that was enough to cover his remaining payments AND give him a downpayment on a new car! I'd consider THAT if I knew it was a sure thing!
I think I'll just flush the radiator for now though... thanks!
