Anyone else have this happen?

Ok I've had my intake for about 6 1/2 months now and just recently my check engine light went on. I took it to my shop and the said it was the intake and reset it. That was yesterday. They said it should be off for awhile now but on my way to work today it came back on. This is the third f*%&ing time in a week. WHY???????????

do u cap off the proper lines?

Did you check your gas cap? Sometimes that causes the check engine light to come on. I know, sounds stupid, but you really have to make sure it clicks...if it doesnt it will cause a check light.

I think I did. But on my car there is a little box under the intake behind the battery that looks like a little resonator or something. But that used to connect to the stock intake but there was nothing to connect it to the DC. I'm not sure what it is or does but it has a few lines running to it. Also its not my gas cap the shop said the error was for the intake.

I have the same Pioneer Head Unit you have. It looks good in the car. Was it hard to install?

If you didn't cap off or reconnect all the hoses that went to the stock intake, you're probably having a vacuum leak of some kind.

The thing in the fenderwell by the battery is a resonator. There aren't any hoses going to it.

Yeah and the thing with that is... you have to make sure it clicks THREE times, and if you DON'T click it three times, your check engine light will come on and stay on for three driving trips past the time that you fix the gas cap problem. Now, it doesnt specify what = three driving trips... is that 3 miles, 3 engine-startings and shutoffs, what? Grr... I had that problem once before.

When I installed my AEM, I removed that little resonator and capped it off. I don't remember if there are two lines going into it, or just one. I do remember capping it off though.

I have a 97 and never had a check engine light come on yet. Do you have a factory service manual? The best investment of all my purchases, it will show you exactly what is what and you might find which item was affected when you put in the DAC. I buy all my OEM from A and H Motorsports. Good luck.

I took my air silencer and resonator out and just left the intake box and filter. There were no lines connecting to the resonator. I have a 3.0 so I dont know if it is different than mine.

I think the thing you are talking about is part of the air silencer it does nothing if you replaced your intake. Check the post on how to take it off called "AIR SILENCER?". I just did mine tonight and it was easy. Only took about 30 min on my 97 2.2

when u rip everything out that means
1 the stock intake tube and filter
2 the air resonator in the front fender/ bumper
3 the little piece of crap that was attache to the bottom of the stock intake i think its the IAR system or something like that
u will see that all thos little hoses all combine into one and when u trace the one hose back u will see it goes to one of the three metal vaccum lines on the firewall in the middle of the engine bay. just cap it there and rip all that crap out. the foam piece included with the aem is not needed on the cl. and go get urself a breather and screw that hose from the valve cover to the intake.
