Do we have to replace the whole ignition? What did it cost you to get a new key made?

i had it done @ a honda dealer for 21 bucks, but i had to provide them with a key code, which you can get @ any acura dealer. however, the key now has the honda symbol instead of an acura symbol on it. an acura dealer wants 85 bucks for a new key.

I went to Honda to get a key made for my wife's Accord. I did not have the key code.
All they needed was your VIN #, and proof of ownership. I got all of this for free. (I had my own blank key.)

I have a '97 which uses a plain old key.

it is the same key as the later honda accord model keys. its a t25 blank key. some honda dealer will not make key by tracing your old one. they want a key code for your car, and will make you one with that code. again, you can get your key code from an acura dealer. acura dealer will need some form of identification with registration to give the key code for your car.
i got an extra key done @capital honda in san jose. some part guys might tell you to go to an acura dealer because they dont know wut they re doing.

guys, remember that the 99 acura comes with the transponder key, and this is wut ghander is asking in the topic. you can go to wal-mart and have them trace or duplicate you a key for a couple of dollars, but it wont work. it will open your door and turn the ignition, but it will not start the car. you will need the transponder key for your 99 acura cl.
