Just look for a '90s ford. I guarentee you'll find one for under a grand on craigslist.

this might sound :ghey:, but i suggest the miata. older ones are cheap, and spec miatas are pretty fun little runts and hella fun on the track.

its really according to what you mean when you say "mess around with" . Are you looking for something to just drive or are you looking for something to do some modifications to or what. If its just drive I will second the miata, they are fun and convertible another is a 3rd gen camaro (82-92). Even if you get one with a stock 305 they can be fun especially if you get a 5 speed and most have t-tops and they can be found for a song right now also. there are all kinds of parts for these also and the parts are usually cheap enough to not break the bank and engine mods are super cheap since just about any SB chevy parts will bolt right up. This is the specs i used when I built my vortec 350 I put in mine and it has about 470HP according to the dyno http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tec...ild/index.html . Only thing I did different is I used a Lt4 cam and 1.6 roller rockers which gave it 445 ft lbs of torque

Just keep an eye on craigslist, it could take a few weeks but I'm sure you'll find something to jump on

there are alot of parts for miatas too, since spec miata racing is pretty popular.
