amp question
amp question
I'm kind of oblivious to what this shit means... can anyone help me out? translate "4 ohms bridged mono" into something more simple for a retard like me...? is this something i can control?... thanks for the help...
ok. say you have a subwoofer that is dual voice coil and each coil is 8 ohms...(or even two 8 ohm subs). if you paralell them together the amp will see 4 ohms. 8+8 = 4, 4+4 = 2 and so on. please let us know a little more about your setup and we can be of greater help.
thanks man... yeah, i got an amp, the specs say 700 watts at 4 ohms, bridged mono, i was going to get the new 12" alpine type-x subwoofer... but now that you say that, the alpine is dual 4-ohm voice coils... how much power am i gonna lose if its at 2 ohms not 4?
"4 ohms bridged mono" simply means when bridging ur amp you have to use a 4 ohm load or higher (6, 8...), using a 2 ohm load will cause the amp to run hot and cut off. some amps can handle 2 ohms, or even 1 or .5, but if it says "4 ohms bridged mono", 4 ohms is the lowest
