Amp problem

About a week ago i had a new fuse put in my car after it was either blown out by my brother or the shop that did work on it (my car was in the shop while i was at college). Well anyway, after getting my new fuse in my sub was working basically fine. Then after playing it for like 10 minutes it started to smoke and ever since then the light on the sub hasn't gone on and the sub has been fucked. I looked at the fuse but it is fine. Does anyone possibly have any idea what went wrong?

BTW i have a JL amp.

I don't see how a fuse would have anything to do with it unless it's wired wrong

cap = capacitor. It basically protects the amp from getting too much current, for example your amp might be getting fried because it is getting too much current, a cap would remedy that

sounds like your amp is fried. first the smoke comming out of the amp is definitely not a good sign and if it does not light means that its blown out. Check to see if your getting power through the wires.

1: check wires and all connections
2: be sure that you're using the right fuse(s)
3: might possibly be able to take it to a shop to get it checked out
4: new amp =(

JL is weird I think their lifetime warranty only applies if the equipment is installed by a authorized JL dealer, could be mistaken though.

The amp is a 2 year old JL amp. I got it from a good friend so i know he didn't fuck with it.

Today it was playing well at low volume, but when i turned it up it just stopped hitting. as far as i know all of my fuses are good and my wires are all plugged in. Here are pics of what may be wrong (sorry about poor quality)

All the help is appreciated.

Ill probably have more pics up later to see if anyone sees anything wrong.

..And where would the charging system be? I really need to get a booklet or something that can help me with this. I bought these used and with no instruction manuals.

charging system?? That basically means looking into your alternator and the rest of the electrical setup...

charging system is your alternator, you can get that tested, but I doubt that's the prob.

Check the ground to the amp, ground points are hard to come by in our trunks, took me 4 dif places b4 I found a good one.

Exactly - sounds like you're just pushing the amp too hard.

You might have the wrong impediance sub for that amp or its been played too loud for too long.

Most amps have a fail safe and turn off when something's wrong. Usually turning it off and on will reset it. Sounds like you're tripping the breaker.

You can:
replace the amp
or
keep the volume down so the amp doesn't cut out

Or turn the gain down, but if your amp was smoking it's already toast

The thing is, when it was first smoking i wasn't blasting it that loud. It played well for a day or two after i put my new fuse in then it just went to shit.

Did you put the fuse in the amp or the car fuse box?

I put the new fuse in the amp wire part by the battery. Its definitley not the car fuse box.

I've been playing around(not in a bad way) with the nobs on my amp to see if maybe something was messed up back there but ive had no luck.

Yeah, i actually had MORE tranny work done about a month ago. Of all things i saw someone blow out a tire on the exact same spot where i blew mine.

I can probably fix all of this shit up its just going to cost me alot of money.
