Number A. you dont have to shout. Do you know how many internet etiquette laws you're breaking by typing in all caps like that? Well, your breaking one. Don't type in all caps.

get teh aem, gives about 7-10 hp when its cold out. increases throughtyness at full throtle. aem and comptech and other major brands give dyno tested power, the other ones say they do, they might, i haven't seen a dyno to back it up. i would go with aem version 2.0

7-10 ponies? Ha, yeah right. Most people have AEM. I'm happy with mine. AEM V2 is the newest version, suppose to put out more power. Get it and tell us what you think.

My guess is 2-3 HP at the wheels on a 3.0 (and that's being generous).

I have an AEM Polished CAI (w/ K&N cone filter), but have had a variety of named and "no-name" CAIs and short rams. My experience is that the short rams are louder; but only slightly. All are comparable ("a tube is a tube"), but it's all in the filter. Get a good filter like K&N, and ANY intake is going to work well.

Any aftermarket intake is going to increase engine noise. However, the increase in noise is not unpleasant for me. Hell, I added a Helix power tower (throttle body spacer), and the noise is even more pronounced (when I can hear it over my exhaust)!

The only disadvantage I can think of is with a CAI. Because the filter is down low to the ground, the next time you decide to drive through a lake (or a 3 foot deep puddle), your engine will suck up water and hydrolock. Sooooo . . . don't drive through lakes!

The noise is bothersome to some people, and you may want to personally listen to someone else's CL w/ intake before getting one yourself.

BTW: You'll save a few pounds in weight by removing the stock air box and resonator. Just another advantage to a CAI or short ram.

Also, don't forget to reset your ECU after installing the intake. With time, your ECU will "adapt" to the increased air volume coming into the engine, but by resetting the ECU, you'll "reprogram" it immediately. You can reset the ECU by removing the negative battery cable for about 15 minutes. You can also remove a certain fuse, but I don't remember which one it is. This way is preferred, because you won't need to reprogram your stock head unit.

You guys are underestimating the gains from a good CAI. AEM dyno'd 9.7hp (10.1tq) MAX GAIN to the wheels with the V2, and they say it's only 2whp MAX GAIN over the standard CAI. Also, the V2 has a MAX GAIN of 9.4hp over the standard CAI, b/c it doesn't have a dip that the standard CAI has. Looks like this is one case where the V2's extra tuning worked.

There is only a 4.5whp PEAK difference to stock PEAK whp on the V2. If you are talking only peak differences, then yea it's only 4.5whp, and prob only 2-3 w/ the standard CAI. But only looking at that number would just be silly...

What you mention is true, but many people who quote dyno ratings focus on peak HP/torque differences when quoting results. That is what I focused on, in my post above.

There may be a 9.4 HP gain @ 5000 rpm, but it is very short-lived. I can't recall ever spending but a split second hovering at 5000 rpm. The "max" gain is experienced for a very brief moment in time.

Maybe that time is enough to "win the race", but seriously, I can't notice a rise in HP which is less than 5-10 HP. Shit, a head wind can simply negate any gains which are made at this low end of the HP spectrum.

I must admit that I'm spoiled. With a flip of the switch, I'm sending another 60+ HP to the wheels! :P That's when I notice a difference!

Well, I did notice a difference when I installed the headers. 12-15 WHP increase is definitely noticeable. But then, I regress!
