I have cleaned the remote because it didnt work but now I'm wondering if it has to be reprogrammed because it hasn't been used in so long. Anyone know the answer?

yes, I do have a brand new battery in it. The car isn't responding at all to the remote.

refer to your user manual, it tells you how to do it. or go see a dealer, they'll usually do it for free.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try the reprogramming. I'm taking it to my mechanic on Monday and he's going to run the car through the computer and see what's causing the security to randomly activate. I'm doing well at the moment because security deactivated itself so I am not waking up the neighbours. I'd like to have a working remote so all I would have to do is turn off the alarm from the bedroom window.

Have him load test your car battery too, mine did that when the battery was about to die

its easy

reprogramming is very simple. just open the drivers door put the key in the ignition, oh take your remote of your key chain. then lock the door manually. turn the ignition switch on and off, but dont start the car.. while doing so press the unlock button. the doors will unlock when the remote is programmed. you can take it to the dealer and they will do it for free, obviously. but itll atleast save you some gas.
