According to the AEM website, there was significant gains over the regular AEM CAI. The test was done on a civic dx.

significant?

I've got a buddy who was the head of R&D at AEM. He said at most the v2 may get 2-3 more hp, but even then he said he doubted it.

Technically, if it's a 2-3hp gain, that's what? a 33-40% gain over what they normally claim, still in real life, it's not much.

he said if that though, he was being generous.
The thing about the V2 is that it has greater gains in some areas than the regular CAI b/c of the dual tuning. In the V6 Accord application - the V2 only has 2-3 peak whp gains over the standard CAI, but it has a max gain of almost 10whp vs the standard CAI. It doesn't have a hole where the normal CAI does at a certain point. It's about the gains as a whole, not just peak gains.
Now on the I4 application - this could be different. They don't have any dynos posted for that application.

i know that 1-3 hp isnt going to be felt only measurable but if headers and exhaust were added at some point would that 1-3 increase or even maximise the HP gains from H/E
for us i4s the v2 is well worth it becuase the v1 has huge drop in low end power and slighly better mid. the v2 has more power all around except slighltly less mid. you 3.0 guys will never notice low end loss from say a cai and cat back, but i will tell you my car was slower off the line with my cai and catback then stock until i bought a dc header and then it was smae or slightly better. the v2 makes more power then the v1 at almost all rpms. yeah peak may only be 2hp but look in other places and its 5+ especially down low and dont forget about tq #'s they are pretty much up all around also. again especially down low where civics and 2.2 and 2.3cls need power
