Aem brake pads

I had installed them about a month ago and now their starting to squeak. Anyone else had this problem with Aem pads ? What needs to be done, Sprayed, rotors cut ??

I don't have AEM but I had other brands. My didn't squeak but after a while they started to also, It turned out one of my pistons froze. It wasn't lubricated enough so when I step down on the brake pad it was touching the rotor sideways then then even out. That Y for me it was sqeak and then stop at the end. I dunno if u have a similar problem.

I don't think is that b/c I would see the rotors uneven wear. Is there a spray that would eliminate the noise???

Man you must drive like a speed demon to notice the wear after a month. I tried the brake cleaner spray, it work for a bit but it not a good fix. You can check the inside face of the rotor also. My pad that was sticking was the rear inner one. Does the noise go away if you step harder? It did for me. That is either because of my problem or the pad is not sitting correctly in the caliper. I was told by a lot of mechanics that if the pad vibrates a lot it can make noise like that. Check to see if the pads have these metal plates between the caliper and the pad. I forgot wat they are called but they help reduce noise by absorbing some of the vibration of the pad moving in the caliper. Hope that helps.

Hey drewha-

Did you ever get this problem sorted out? I'm looking for brake pads and if you're having problems w/ AEM pads, I might look elsewhere. Thanks.

it's common w/ the AEM pads, they are made by nissin and i'm pretty sure they are the axxis metal masters relabeled.

Try cleaning your wheels and brakes. It's just brake dust most likely. They are really dusty pads.

i use akibono pads, they are the stock ones but however the stock i think are metal and the ones i got were ceramic i think, but ya i xperience the sweeking too, especially when i brake but i do notice if i brake hard they sweek a little less not saying much but definately less, but my sweeking isdue to glazing, this is caused by hard braking too early in the "break in" period

but i would look into this kind or some organic cermaic pads, i have heard that most of all CL's that come into the modesto acura have sweeks it just comes with wear and the the stock braking system, but oh well, try some aftermarket like brembo rotors and some cermaic pads run youabout 99 for the front rotors from ebay and boaut 30 for pads

good luck q
