how come the whole ac unit is working while my car is off

ac unit should go on when the car is off and key is the first position
the a/c will work on the second key position. even though you think the a/c is on, the compressor isn't on because the car isnt on for the belts to move. therefore you are blowing air.

the display is on 67 degree but theirs not cold air coming out, .
and the compressor is off

i did. but 15 minutes later it was on again.
well now the alternator is making a noise

 

my bad..... my girl wrote this while i was at work....

the prob was.... i parked my car....took out the keys...left....came back 15mins later....

the climate control, ac was on...no cold air, but the fans..... and the temp said 67 when i left it on 80

i can turn it off and on while the keys are not in the ignition,,,

its not supposed to be on.....till the keys are in.....

i put them in and turned it to on II position, (accesories) then off, and it was still on.

turned on the car....then off.... and the fans and display stayed off. i changed the temp to 75

came back 30 mins later and its on again..... I turned on the car... and it slowly began to stall...i gave it a lil gas...it stalled.

I started it again...and i got a loud sqwealing noise.... either from the altonator or the starter...... it kinda sounded like if you crank it after the car is started...

i jiggled the igniton cause i thougt that was the prob....

reset the engine..... started fine no problems..... an hour later...cc on again...

 

you def have a short somewhere
sounds like a grounding issue
that is very weird though

you car might just be haunted

a thing i forgot to mention..... it was raining real hard.....drove through some puddles and after i parked it...that sh!t happened.

now i gots no cold air comin out my ac.....

well why didnt u say that from the beggining
try a simple test
start your car
open the hood and have your gf in the car
have her turn on the ac
you should be able to hear the conpressor working and should immediately see the fans working
if that does not happen you need to get a electrical guy to find out which wire is busted
i had the same problem with my car

if the fans do start and the compressor is working then you are out of freon

fans work...but dont know bout the compressor..... i think it does.... cant hear it well....

if it is then u have no freon
but 2 cans and fill it

your rpms will drop a little if youve got a 2.x, i dunno about 3.0s. is that what you meant by feel it?

you need to buy the recharging kit
have the unit hooked up to the line
connect the freon can
start the ac and open the valve
let the car run till the can is completely empty

alright...... i got the recharge kit.... checked the psi.. 40....

but before i use it..... i dont think the compressor comes on..... just the fans..... the rpms dont fall...they rise a bit.... when i put the cc on auto 90...the rpms fall cause the heater comes on....

the same doesnt happen when the ac is supposed to be on....

the instructions say that if the compressor doesnt come on......to use one can (it came with two) this one

but the psi is at 40....sooo....
