ABS pump swap
ABS pump swap
Hello all. I have a 1997 Acura CL 3.0L. the ABS pump has a plastic reservoir on it this dry rotting and the cap on it is all so dry rotting. I'm looking to replace it with a new part. It is no longer available. I would like to buy a new part to replace it, does anybody know a thing or two about ABS systems that would be willing to point me in the proper direction to replace this part. My first thought was to go to an ABS pump from a 2000s Honda. Does the entire brake system have to be hard lined? Or is there a high pressure flexible hose I could use to replace the lines that are already there?
ABS pump swap
I also have a 97 3.0 CL. I have done the swap, my pump was non functioning so I picked up a matching one for $80 off of ebay out of an Integra and installed it like it was factory. Took the lines off of the pump, put them on the new pump, bled (pain in the ass). It worked for a time, then was intermittently working, but as of recently it has been acting up. Most times on start up, the abs pump buzzes and then the abs light comes on. If not, the pump buzzes and the light stays off but the abs pulse randomly sometimes. Long story short, this is a finicky job. The 97 has an outdated pump that is not used on the 98 or 99 and definitely not on the accords or civics from the time after. I believe our car shares an abs pump with Honda accord 94-97 and maybe a prelude. Not sure tho. Let me know if you have any questions. I am actually looking to repair my pump if anyone has advice on that. It appears not to be building pressure
Wiring harness compatibly
I was looking to swap to a newer version of the same thing as far as the pump goes. As in cutting the lines at the frame and then running my own to new pump. I don't want to put an old pump that's going to go out like yours did in there. I just need to figure out how the wiring works on the pump and if I can find one with the same electronic setup as the old one. Sorry for taking so long to reply, had a lot going on and moved recently.
