I'll go against everything I belive in and say the mustang will probably get you off the line but won't beat you by too much. Highway is another story you'll be able to keep up there.

The older 3.8L Mustangs had a sorry 140hp, but the new ones are up to 200hp and even more torque, so it should be pretty close. I'd say that the Mustang would win off the line (especially with RWD!), but the CL would start to catch up later on because of its better breathing up top.

from stats the cl should win...2001 STICK runs a 7.1 0-60 and a 15.6 quarter and the CL runs a 7.3 0-60 and 15.7 quarter...i cant find times for an auto but im guessing about a second difference so yay i win...hopefully. ill post results when im done with him

i raced a 2000 mustang... not a gt and i have a 97 3.0 and i hung with him and i wasnt even gasing all that much... i think the mustang gt will beat us in the regualr street racing cuz of the stop lights and crap but in the freeway i think we would win cuz once the vtec kicks in its over...

Yea...I'm gonna have to agree on this. Unless its the GT/Cobra/Saleen...The CL will win. Those V6 stangs blow. Damn it though...Why couldn't they have had a CL GT, V8 option

Hell no a v-6 mustang wont hang with a CL. First off its only 190HP, and secondly its a piece of shit. Gt's are lucky if they can beat us. POS's

I raced a new white gt a couple of months ago. We both took off at a light and I took him right off the start. He spun the tires a little bit, but not much. I had him by about a car length until I let off at like 75mph. I dont know, maybe the dude just couldnt drive.

I've beat v6 mustangs before and by alot off the line and everything. I've also beat stock 3.0 CL by atleast 5 cars(have the video of that one)
GT mustangs and Cobras are a totally different story.

My friend had a 99 v6 auto stang. He put 17" cobraR chrome wheels on it and it was slow as slug shit. I could toy with and embarrass him all day long. I think the heavy wheels had something to do with it, but v6 stangs are kinda like a prude prostitute.

i beat a 98 GT mustang too!!
off the line and he didnt even spun out!!
1st gear he was at my door!!
2nd gear he was still at my door!!
3 gear he was behind my bumper!! and i start to pull away from there
and we had to stop because of the light...
but he didnt even looked at me!!
